Let me start by saying that I'm an Espresso Drinker. When others brew their morning coffee, I drink Espresso- A full 12oz (or more# of it! So I LOVE it strong! I always buy Espresso whole bean and then grind the beans fresh for each brew #Its the ONLY way to go!# I was not sure what to expect with the Gevalia Espresso, as another reviewer had stated it's not your regular Espresso, and she is kinda right- there are some traits missing. YET I Really LOVE it! Personally I love a really Dark Espresso bean, usually with an oily coating to tell me its fresh, so I was kind of dissapointed when I opened the bag to find the Gevelia Espresso was not very dark in roast color #compared to Starbucks) and was not oily. But I was surprised once I tried it- I LOVED the flavor. Since I do Love Espresso in big cups, I like to add some Flavored Creamer for some sweetness and with this one, I barely wanted to add any- I enjoyed the flavor so much, I just wanted to taste the Espresso. True it will not give you that creme top- but you would also have to have a true espresso maker for that. I was a barista for Several Years at a Coffehouse, where we actually Roasted our own beans in house. So I know a GREAT cup of Joe! So If you like Espresso, Gevelia makes a Great One! Again its not the darkest roast, but there is no acidity and the Best part is the lovely flavor & aroma. A MUST TRY! YUMMY!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Not for an espresso machine
By Jester1952 from Rio Rancho, NM
I purchase products labeled "espresso roast" specifically for use in my espresso machine. This product may be acceptable to those looking for a darker roast coffee for use with a standard coffee maker, but it does not work well in an espresso machine -- no crema, thin bodied, weak flavor.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who disagrees!

I respectfully must say that Gevelia's Espresso is ABOVE Average! I think the trick may be to buy whole bean and then grind at home so you can get the robust flavor this has to offer. I have NEVER purchased pre-ground coffee. I personally beleive that Grinding it at home fresh for EACH brew is the ONLY way to go, Especially if you actually own an Espresso machine- you must like Espresso to have bought the machine- SO Do it right- Buy Whole Bean and Grind Fresh for every cup! This Expresso is absolutely Heaven! I'm was a Barista at a Coffee-House where we Roasted our OWN beans in store for several years & I KNOW a good cup of Espresso #actually few & far between!)THIS IS IT!

Antico Caffe Greco is this suitable for making esspresso

have a 15 bar machine that makes your espresso blend great usually make caps or lattes and some times want a stronger taste, will this be it? and what about french blend?or any others you might recommend.
I actually enjoy the Gevelia Espresso Roast- Have you tried it? Their Espresso it really full of flavor and is Low acidity. I do use the Greco too its DELISH- Good Flavor Low Acidity- Wont give you that full Espresso Boast- But its good!
