Be certain you need the CM-500 B/W carafe and not the XCC-12

Drink Gevalia:All the time
Length of use:So long I can't remember
Take Gevalia:With milk and sugar
The carafe of the CM-500 B/W has a bump in the lid to operate the pause and serve valve at the bottom of the filter funnel. The XCC-12 carafe lid has no bump. These carafes cannot be interchanged unless you kept your original handle and lid. If you have the handle and lid you can use the carafes on either model. Be careful when you remove and replace the handle as the strap must not be too tight or too loose.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Does this carafe fit the 12C Deluxe Coffeemaker?

The glass part will work, but only if you transfer the handle and lid from your broken carafe. The supplied handle and lid work only with the CM500 due to changes in the pause and serve mechanism on the 12C. Be careful when tightening the screw, it must hole the handle securely but too much will break the strap or the glass.

Replacement part for CM500

The "pause & serve" mechanism at the bottom of the filter basket on the CM500 is made up of three small parts: (1) a black plastic button with a 1" stem; (2) a spring; (3) a small (1/4") round elastic washer. The washer slips over the end of the stem and holds the entire pause & serve mechanism in place in the filter basket. Without the small elastic washer, the entire coffeemaker won't function. The elastic washer probably costs about one cent.

I need a replacement elastic washer. Can Gevalia mail me one?
I was able to locate an O-ring suitable for this purpose. It is made of food grade Neoprene rubber. The size is 3.8mm I.D. and 7.6mm O.D. with 1.9mm section or thickness. I got mine from Harbor Freight in a Metric assortment of 397pcs. for $8. The assortment was #67580 and contains 20 of the size described above. I have verified that the pause and serve function is fully restored now on my CM-500B. Assemble the post and spring and insert through the funnel bottom. Use your index finger to roll the O-ring on over the 4 corners of the post. Full seal will be apparent when you have applied hot water during a brew cycle.
