This is a great product and so convenient. My husband and I liked different coffees, so it was easy to make two different ones and since we don't drink alot of coffee, we had just enough.
Now that he has passed away, it is easy to use for just myself. I set it up at night, turn it on in the morning and it is ready to grab as I go out the door for work! One travel mug with great coffee and nothing left over. I love it. One suggestion would be to have a better lid that doesn't leak if it tips over. Otherwise, I love it!

Can I brew just ONE cup at a time; if that's what is wanted or do you have to use both sides?
Yes, you can brew one at a time. I do every morning! Just move the switch at the top for either one or two but make sure you put the water, coffee and mug on the left side if you are just making one! I put the mug on the right side the first time and made a mess!!

Can you brew tea in this also?
If you put a tea bag in the mug and just run the hot water through it, I guess that would work or put your loose tea or tea bag in the filter and use it that way. I'd try it.
